Methodology
How Lyonell Reading Programmes Work
Reading Material Distributed in Advance
For multi-session programmes, curated reading material is distributed before each session or before the weekend begins. Participants arrive having already read the chapter.
Facilitated Group Discussion
Sessions are discussion-led, not lecture-based. A facilitator guides the cohort through the material, surfaces questions, and ensures the conversation remains grounded in the reading.
Materials to Keep and Revisit
Every participant leaves with physical materials — workbooks, glossary cards, and discussion notebooks — designed for use well after the programme ends.
Programme One · Weekend Workshop
Pre-Retirement Reflection Reading Workshop
A weekend reflection-led reading workshop for adults aged 50 to 60 on the questions commonly held in mind in the years before retirement — household cashflow reshaping, the conversational frameworks around shared decisions, the standard vocabulary of CPF Life and SRS, and the household priority mapping rhythms. Participants work through a structured workbook of reflection prompts across the two days.
- Clothbound workbook with structured reflection prompts
- Household reference card for post-programme use
- Access to a small follow-up reflection circle
- Cohort size: eight to twelve participants
- Suitable for adults aged 50 to 60

Programme Two · Eight-Session Evening Series
Estate Reading Series
An eight-session evening reading series that introduces participants to the vocabulary and frameworks around estate arrangements in Singapore — wills, LPA documents, advance care arrangements, CPF nomination, and the standard documentation used by qualified professionals. The series is reading-led; each session covers a chapter of pre-distributed material. Suitable for adults aged 45 and above.
- Clothbound reading binder with pre-distributed chapters
- Weekly glossary cards for each session's key vocabulary
- Peer discussion notebook

Programme Three · Four-Session Reading Circle
Family Money Reading Circle
A four-session reading circle on the language and frameworks of intergenerational household money conversations — partner conversations, conversations with adult children, conversations with ageing parents, and sibling coordination conversations. The circle is reading-led; sessions consist of guided discussion of pre-distributed material. Cohort size of ten.
- Printed reading binder covering all four conversation frameworks
- Structured conversation cards for post-programme family use
