What a Reading Programme Offers That a Seminar Cannot

Lyonell's approach is deliberately unhurried. No urgency, no selling, no advice. Just well-designed material and a small group of adults reading and discussing it together.

Six Reasons Adults Return to Lyonell

Reading, Not Listening

Reading is an active process. Participants engage with the material directly, at their own pace, and bring their own questions to the group discussion. This leads to more durable understanding than passive attendance at a talk.

Singapore Vocabulary, Precisely

Reading material covers CPF Life, SRS, LPA documentation, advance care arrangements, and CPF nomination as they actually operate in Singapore — not as generic approximations from materials designed for other jurisdictions.

Small Cohorts with Depth

Eight to twelve participants per cohort — a size at which discussion has genuine texture. Participants often recognise their own situations in what others describe, producing insight that solitary reading cannot replicate.

No Advice, No Products

Lyonell does not offer financial advice and does not sell financial products. There is no underlying commercial motive to the reading material. Participants can engage without managing their own scepticism about what is being recommended to them.

Materials Worth Keeping

Clothbound workbooks, glossary cards, and peer discussion notebooks are designed to be referred to well after the sessions end. Participants frequently revisit the material when navigating real decisions months or years later.

Three Distinct Programmes

Each Lyonell programme addresses a specific set of questions — pre-retirement household reshaping, estate vocabulary, or intergenerational family conversations. Adults choose the programme most relevant to their current circumstances.

What Each Advantage Means in Practice

Programme Design Expertise

Lyonell's reading programmes are built around the actual questions that adults 40 and above ask — not the questions that financial product providers assume they ask. The material has been developed iteratively over multiple cohort seasons, shaped by participant feedback and by close attention to what Singapore residents actually encounter when navigating household financial decisions.

Participant Support and Communication

We respond to pre-enrolment enquiries within two working days and provide clear cohort schedules in advance of each season. During programmes, participants have direct access to the cohort coordinator for scheduling or logistical queries. We do not manage correspondence through automated systems.

Transparent, Contained Programme Fees

Programme fees range from S$140 to S$870 and include all physical materials. There are no add-on products, no referral arrangements, and no follow-on selling. The fee is the full cost of the programme. Participants know exactly what they are paying for before they register.

Outcomes Measured in Clarity, Not Compliance

A Lyonell participant's outcome is an improved working vocabulary around the topics covered — not a product sold, a certificate earned, or a strategy committed to. This framing is deliberate. Participants are better equipped to have substantive conversations with professionals and family members when they leave.

Distinctive Features of Our Programmes

Pre-Distributed Reading Material

For the Estate Reading Series, reading material is distributed before each session. Participants arrive having already engaged with the chapter — meaning session time is spent on discussion, not on being talked at.

Follow-Up Reflection Circles

The Pre-Retirement workshop includes access to a small follow-up reflection circle — a subsequent gathering at which participants can revisit questions that emerged from the workbook after the weekend itself.

Conversation Card Format

The Family Money Reading Circle includes structured conversation cards — prompts designed to support the actual family conversations that participants may wish to have after the programme, not just during it.

Venue Selected for Its Quality of Light

Our reading room at Samsung Hub is chosen not just for its location but for its environment — calm, well-lit, and suited to extended reading and conversation. The setting reflects the pace of the programme.
